For 32 years, downtown Montreal was my home. I truly loved those decades of walking everywhere, to work or the market. I strolled along every street and alley in the Plateau time and time again. I’ve just realised that this urban environment naturally led me to create works where greys, ochres, and earth colors figured predominantly. They are still in my basic palettes and I’ll always love them, but my new life in the country pulls me in another direction. My direct and daily contact with nature offers me the sky, waterways, the forest; hues of shimmering blues, bold reds and warm oranges are now closer to me. The sounds, smells and seasons, the relationship to time are so different in the country. These changes astound me.
