To draw
Every year, I take a break from creating for at least two months. I’m going on a trip with Hélène and I only take a sketchbook and a few pencils. This long pause allows me to reflect without being in action. Let the ideas come, let them germinate and develop. I draw a lot when I travel. My gesture is free, I have no objective, no expectation, the lead of my pencil almost never leaves the sheet. When I’m done, I turn the page of my sketchbook, I don’t touch up my drawings. This ritual is like a meditation, a kind of purification. That’s what I did in Mexico this year. I’m back in my studio now. What a pleasure to take back my brushes. I will share with you very soon my new collection of paintings.
